I will keep the “CReations of a Cluttered Mind” for everything else, especially the quilts and other crafty projects.

Feel free to check out “Brighter Smudges” at http://nadinesaupearts.wordpress.com/

and let me know what you think. drop me an email at nadinesaupe@yahoo.com if you prefer that.

Hope you’ll enjoy the Brighter Smudges too.

All About Boobies November 18, 2009

I know it’s a bit late for this (Breast Cancer Awareness month was Octover I think, although one doesn’t need to stick to a certain schedule to raise awareness for Breast Cancer charitable events)

… but I noticed a Breast Cancer Awareness event on Twitter a while ago organized by Elizabeth Wells (check out her lingerie shop in the Shambles, lovely goodies, or maybe even Christmas pressies for that special lady in your life?) and I think Confident Ladies were involved as well (“Yorkshire’s newest and most Friendly Social and Business Network. a community which brings together and supports a diverse group of women, in and out of business”).

So I thought I’d show that I have done my bit for Breast Cancer Awareness too.

I have donated 3 paintings to be auctioned off in a charity art exhibition at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery in Glasgow (I know, cool, right?) and raised several hundred pounds for Breast Cancer Research. The exhibition was organized by a Breast cancer awareness group called Booby Birds (a group of women who organize events, such as a skydive for charity or other events, in order to raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer) and if I remember correctly the art exhibition raised several thousand pounds for charity.

venice,-chioggia-large… ahem, NOT.

Since you’ve already seen pretty much everything else arty in my bedroom I might as well show you the other painting that hangs above my bed.

I know, I know, it really isn’t sexy at all. For something that hangs above someone’s bed.

Guess that means I need to paint some more nudes, haven’t done that in a while. Maybe I should audition models for paintings of the sexy kind. Hm, I could imagine a competition with all you sexy people sending in sexy poses and I’ll attempt to paint them.

Ha, what a great idea. =)

People are Strange October 22, 2009

Oh, wow, look what I’ve found on Stumbleupon. A video of “People Are Strange” showcasing an amazing notebook full of artwork (Sturdy Heaven Blog). http://sturdyheaven.com/blog/2008/11/28/people-are-strange/

I love The Doors and Jim Morrison is a legend, not just for his music and personality, but his poetry as well. Check out The American Night for some beat poetry. (as for Beat Poetry my favorite is still Langston Hughes though. A Raisin in the Sun.)

The following portrait of the Mojo was a lot of fun to paint and is hanging in my living room along with some other portraits of other legends.

Time for another painting, and one of my favorites too. This painting (oil on canvas panel, 20″x 24″) fits in perfectly with the colours I have all over the flat and it therefore has a safe place on the living room wall.

I can barely remember, but I think I had the idea to paint this after seeing some Chuck Close paintings. I find his portraits fascinating. This painting however is a simple abstract, one I can keep looking at and I always find something new.

So far my blog entries have been very mixed with a strong tendency towards quilts. Today I think it’s time to share one of my favorite paintings with you, an oil painting called “Strangers in the City” which is currently hanging above my bed.
