A pattern emerges … in the doodle.
Last night 13 of us got together at the White Swan to doodle, drink and chat about x y and z, well, mainly arty stuff, technology and the like. We had a great time, I certainly did and ….

… it seems that a pattern emerges. Here are some (rather obvious) observations …
- there are lots of BOOBS and BUMS in the doodles, hmmm, wonder why and what would a psychoanalyst make of that? Actually, I don’t think I want to know.
- even though we start doodling and it is not supposed to be a DRAWING session, we end up with somewhat recognizable images
- very often the overall image ends up looking like a face
- everyone has a very distinct doodling style, whether they are artists or never do anything arty at all
- some people tend to use very curvy round long strokes, others prefer edges and straight lines
- some people often draw big shapes trying to fill the page, others tend to fill the empty space within the shapes with small circles, dots or lines
- often one person starts drawing something that they see as x and then the next person turns it into something completely different
- we all see very different things in the doodles, where someone might see a woman’s face somebody else sees a man’s
(tbc)
… which brings me to one of my favorite geeky interests, visual illusions. But I’ll leave that for another post.

Here are a few pics from last night some with close-ups (sorry, photos were taken on my iPhone and the lighting wasn’t great). You can find most of the other doodles on the doodlemanifesto website (will be updated when Steve gets his head out of his own doodles. lol).

PS: we will soon start having doodling sessions at Pulse on Fossgate, York, our chosen gathering place for the geeky arts and design community and Mac enthusiasts in York.
